Two External Scientific Advisory Committees (ESACs) provide specialist technical advice to the management teams on the product and information systems portfolios during the periodic reviews of the projects. The Public Health Products ESAC provides advice to the commercially orientated insecticide-based projects in the PHP projects group. The Information Systems ESAC provides advice to the data management, monitoring and dissemination projects in the Interventions Consortium.
The ESACs evaluate all project outputs against four major indicators:
Membership of the ESACs is through nomination of candidates (external to any partner institution) with the required expertise and consensual discussion and agreement between the IVCC partner institutions.
The ESACs meet formally a minimum of twice a year. The IVCC also has the ability to call on advice from members of the ESAC in an ad hoc capacity.
