Health ministries and programme managers in disease endemic countries do not always have accurate information on vector populations and apply insecticides on the basis of incomplete or anecdotal data. The four projects which are currently being taken forward in the Information Systems category are all designed to improve decision making in malaria and dengue vector control programmes by improving the quality of information for health control managers. More accurate targeting of pesticides will reduce the transmission of disease, save money and increase empowerment of public health managers working at the community level.
