The purpose of this document is to allow IVCC to determine if they will support this project. The contents of this document will be reviewed by the External Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) and the Executive Committee. When the project is reviewed and approved by these bodies project teams will be invited to complete a Complete Project Specification which will detail the project plan and budget.
There are three main sections to this document:
The purpose of this section is to clearly define the characteristics of the final product that will be developed and how it will be used in the market. In the case of Data mining projects it should be made clear here what the deliverable is going to be e.g chemical leads to be considered for further development into vector control products.
Product description:
Give a description of the product you plan to develop. Clearly state why there is a need for the new product over existing products, who is going to use it and how it will be made cost effective.
Target Product Profile: (Not all of these are appropriate for discovery projects but a Target product profile defining the search criteria should be included in this section)
[Required performance or efficacy (knockdown, mortality, spectrum, resistance breaking etc) including a comment on desirable application rate]
The purpose of this section is to define the present state of technology and knowledge plus any related information. Please present summaries of data with full data sets as appendices.
In the case of data mining projects this section should just be used to explain the extent of the chemical library and also a comment about IP and freedom to operate issues regarding any compounds found.
The purpose of this section is to define how the project is going to move from its current status to the target product. This needs to include who will input to the work, how much it will cost and what risks are associated with the project
