SUMMARY:IVCC at VCWG 2025: Celebrating 20 years of innovation in vector control
DESCRIPTION:IVCC participated in the 20th Annual Meeting of the Vector Control Working Group (VCWG)\, hosted by the RBM Partnership to End Malaria\, taking place 3–5 March in Cotonou\, Benin. \n\n \n\nThis year also marks a major milestone for IVCC—20 years since our founding grant from the Gates Foundation. Over the past two decades\, our work has been made possible by a growing network of funders\, all dedicated to our shared mission: \n“To improve and save the lives of vulnerable populations impacted by mosquito-borne disease through the delivery of a sustainable toolbox of vector control solutions.”\nWe launch our year-long anniversary celebrations at VCWG 2025\, a forum that brings together key partners and experts to shape the future of vector control. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of the first VCWG Annual Meeting\, highlighting two decades of collective progress in the fight against mosquito-borne diseases. \nTo commemorate this joint milestone\, we invite attendees to a special cocktail reception on Monday\, 3 March\, from 18:30 to 20:00\, celebrating 20 years of both VCWG and IVCC. \nBeyond the celebrations\, IVCC will play an active role in shaping the technical discussions at VCWG 2025\, with our team contributing expertise across multiple work streams and task teams: \nMonday\, 3 March – Work Stream 1: Enhancing the Impact of Core Interventions\n\nChristen Fornadel (IVCC) & Ketty Ndhlovu – Co-leading discussions on maximizing the impact of existing vector control interventions.\n\nJanneke Snetselaar (IVCC) – Introducing Task Team 1: Insecticide Resistance Monitoring\, with a focus on best practices for resistance detection and appropriate methodologies. She will also participate as an expert in the session’s Q&A.\nAndrew Siabu (IVCC) – Contributing to Task Team 3: Private Sector Engagement\, exploring strategies to map and involve private sector partners in vector control implementation.\n\n\n\nTuesday\, 4 March – Work Stream 2: Expanding the Vector Control Toolbox\n\nDerric Nimmo (IVCC) & Eric Ochomo – Co-leading discussions on innovations in vector control.\n\nTom McLean (IVCC) – Participating in a panel discussion on stakeholderacceptability of novel vector control tools\, focusing on opportunities\, challenges\, and gaps in integrating new interventions into existing programs (09:30–10:30).\n\n\n\nWednesday\, 5 March – Session 3: Localization\, local manufacturing\, local leadership and\nlocal funding: where are we and where do we need to be?\n\nIVCC CEO\, Justin McBeath\, will contribute insights to this panel discussion lead by Corine Ngufor and El Hadji Amadou Niang (09:00–10:30).\n\nAlong with our partners\, we look forward to contributing insights and progress on expanding the vector control toolbox and the importance of combining tools to achieve malaria elimination. \nDon’t forget to visit our booth to find out our latest news and details about our product\ndevelopment pipeline.
