Tony Chahale Mugasia is a Country Engagement Manager at IVCC, working on the portfolio and access team.

Tony’s journey in public health is deeply personal. Growing up in the malaria-endemic lakeside region of Lake Victoria, he endured several bouts of malaria, including one hospitalisation. These experiences left a lasting mark, fueling his determination to fight the disease that continues to burden millions across Africa.

That passion became his purpose. Over the past decade, Tony has led malaria programs at county, national, and regional levels, serving as County Malaria Program Manager at Kenya’s Ministry of Health, supporting Uganda and Ethiopia on case management and capacity building, and advising governments and donors through roles with CHAI, PATH, Abbott Laboratories, UNOPS, Gavi, and Jhpiego. His work blends technical expertise with strategic vision, designing scalable interventions, strengthening health systems, and empowering frontline health workers with training and digital tools.

Tony holds an MSc and a BSc in Health Systems Management, as well as a fellowship in Epidemiology, from the University of Nairobi. He is recognised for translating complex health challenges into clear, actionable strategies that drive impact. Outside of work, Tony is married and a proud father of three boys. He finds joy in gardening, farming, and volunteering in community initiatives, grounding his global mission in the values of family, resilience, and service.
