In her role as Field Entomologist, Kath is responsible for supporting technical activities in IVCCs core insecticide-treated nets (ITNs) and indoor residual spraying (IRS) pillars. She supports laboratory and field trials designed to aid vector control product development projects with partners, by coordinating specific technical resources and contributing technical input.
Kath holds an MSc and a PhD from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, with a specialisation in the complex relationships between vectors, parasites and insecticides when considering the development and assessment of new experimental procedures to test vector control products. Kath previously worked as Postdoctoral Research Associate within Innovation to Impact (i2i) identifying priority areas around improving methodologies for the generation of vector control product evaluation and monitoring.
In prior roles she also worked on projects assessing the pleiotropic effects associated with insecticide resistance, and how dual active-ingredient nets can reduce clinical incidences of malaria in different insecticide resistance settings.
