Dr Bruno Moonen

With more than 20 years of experience in global health, he has worked across malaria control, elimination, financing, and programme delivery in both field and policy settings.

Prior to joining the Foundation, he led global malaria programmes at CHAI. Earlier in his career, he worked with Médecins Sans Frontières in the Horn of Africa, with Epicentre on nutritional surveys and programme evaluations, and with UNICEF, Roll Back Malaria, and as Malaria Technical Adviser for the Global Fund malaria programme in Somalia.

Dr Moonen was a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Malaria Eradication and served on the WHO Expert Review Group on Malaria Elimination. A widely published physician and epidemiologist, he holds degrees from the University of Leuven, the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
