Renaud Govoetchan, IVCC Field Entomologist, visited Burkina Faso in June 2026 to meet with long-standing research partners, discuss ongoing projects and learn more about the work being carried out to support malaria control.
The visit included meetings with the Institut de Recherche en Sciences de la Santé (IRSS) and the Centre National de Recherche et de Formation sur le Paludisme (CNRFP), two organisations that play an important role in evaluating new vector control tools.
During the visit, Renaud met with research teams, toured laboratory and field facilities, learned about ongoing studies and discussed how the findings could help inform the development of new tools to control malaria. Find out more about IVCC’s product development portfolio here.
At CNRFP in Ouagadougou, Renaud met with Dr Gauthier Tougri and members of the research team to learn more about the centre’s research programmes, ongoing activities and scientific achievements. A tour of the entomology facilities included the insectary, animal house, bioassay laboratory and molecular biology laboratory.
The visit continued at IRSS in Bobo-Dioulasso, where Renaud met with Dr Bayili Koama and colleagues to discuss the Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)-certified Insecticide Testing Laboratory and its role within the wider research group led by Professor Abdoulaye Diabaté.
The programme included a tour of the laboratory facilities, including the insectary, bioassay laboratory, storage areas, data management office and archive. Renaud also visited the Soumousso experimental hut station to review progress on an IVCC-supported project.
This visit provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with partners, share knowledge, and learn more about the research that is helping to evaluate new tools for malaria control.
