IVCC participated in the British Science Festival 2025 at the Museum of Liverpool, presenting hands-on activities in collaboration with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and Liverpool Insect Testing Establishment (LITE), focusing on mosquito control and malaria prevention.
Visitors explored the evolution of vector control first-hand, experiencing protective mosquito nets, smart housing design, genetically modified glowing larvae, and the latest insecticide innovations.
The event attracted a wide range of participants, including families, students, and members of the local community, all eager to learn more about how UK-led science is addressing one of the world’s deadliest diseases.
A technical team member from IVCC, who was in attendance, noted that the highlight was the public’s strong interest, as large crowds eagerly observed mosquitoes, played interactive games, and learned about IVCC’s work. Many adults shared their own mosquito experiences and engaged in conversation.
IVCC’s team engaged with the public throughout the day, highlighting how research and innovation in Liverpool are driving global efforts to reduce malaria transmission.
IVCC would like to thank everyone who visited the stand and took part in the interactive activities.
